Egg Shell Sake Cup - Sun & Moon
Egg Shell Sake Cup - Sun & Moon
Graceful on display and curiously feather-light in hand, the Egg Shell Sake set offers a distinct vessel for an equally unique drinking experience.
The Arita-ware artisans of Yamaheigama use a special clay which imparts their porcelain with both the color and translucency of a true egg shell. Once thinned and shaped by hand, each piece undergoes an additional firing process to ensure its resistance to shattering.
This sake cup sits on a gently tapered base designed to accentuate every sip.

Arita Ware
The town of Arita in Saga Prefecture has a long and storied history of porcelain artistry. It is believed that the practice dates back to the early 16th century and that Japan's first white, hard-paste ceramics were made there. The spiritual traditions and local pride involved in the production of Arita ware have ensured its survival as an art form through the generations, and authentic pieces are still in high demand today.
