About Akashiya
Akashiya was founded in 1624 in Nara, and has become famous among artists and stationery collectors for its calligraphy brushes. Nara is the birthplace of Japanese calligraphy, and its craftsmen have continued that tradition over the years to create some of the most innovative brushes in the world. Strand by strand, each brush is constructed by brush artisans from flexible fibers perfect for drawing and writing.
