Ateliers Penelope

Started in 1996 with a single sewing machine in a small Tokyo apartment, Ateliers Penelope uses premium Japanese canvas to craft simple, timeless bags and accessories. Sourcing canvas from Okayama Prefecture, a region known for its canvas production, and even developing a select few fabrics in-house, ateliers Penelope places great emphasis on the craft and quality of the materials they use.

The canvas is dyed at the ateliers, achieving its rich colorways, and is finished with techniques like paraffin wax coating or vintage washing to achieve unique textures that develop character over time. Atelier Penelope maintains a storefront and atelier in Tokyo, where all their designs are developed.

Please note that the canvas may change in appearance if washed, due to the paraffin wax coating, and it is recommended to avoid washing and embrace the character the canvas develops over time. 

Spot clean or hand wash in cool to lukewarm water with mild detergent. Reshape the bag and let it air dry. Do not use bleach or hot water.
