Revered in Japan since the Edo Period, binchotan is a premium activated charcoal that serves as a natural air and water purifier. Morihata Binchotan charcoal is made through traditional methods from 100% ubame oak by artisans working in the birthplace of binchotan, the Kishu region of Wakayama Prefecture.

These handy Morihata Binchotan Charcoal Bits are an easy way to bring the purifying power of binchotan to the musty spaces in your home. Simply place a few bits in one of the included sachets and set them under your sink, in a crawlspace or anywhere else that tends to get a bit damp or humid. The binchotan will then absorb moisture and odors, effectively cleansing the air for months on end.

Once they've been used up, these eco-friendly bits can be added to the garden or a potted plant to aerate the soil and improve drainage. Each package comes with ½ lb. of binchotan charcoal bits and two sachets which can be filled and used as desired.
