The Art of Tea: A Rikumo Workshop
$ 20.00 USD
The most widely consumed drink in the world, tea nonetheless retains a certain mystique thanks to its countless varieties, complex cultivation, healthful makeup and mythical origins - all stemming from a single species of plant.
Join us for an in-person tea-tasting workshop at the Rikumo concept store in Ardmore and enjoy a selection of fresh-brewed green teas, plus tips for making the perfect matcha and a little history behind Japanese tea. Attendees will sample three distinct varieties of loose leaf green tea following a demonstration of traditional brewing techniques. Afterward, all participants will make their own bowl of ceremonial-grade matcha with guidance from our staff.
At the end of the event, everyone will receive a free Rikumo tote bag containing a complimentary stick of binchotan charcoal (an effective and all-natural water purifier) and a 10% discount on in-store tea purchases that day. Whether you're new to the world of tea or a well-steeped connoisseur, you won't want to miss this tasty - and informative - gathering.

The Kirié Club at Rikumo
$ 20.00 USD
Ready to make some friends? For the first time, the Rikumo concept store will host regular meetings of like-minded locals as part of our new Kirié Club!
Join us for some communal crafting as we gather to practice kirié, the ancient art of Japanese paper-cutting. Under the guidance of kirié enthusiast and club mentor Kimi Benjamin, attendees will create unique artwork, swap tips and techniques, cultivate a satisfying new hobby and generally enjoy the act of creating art with others.
Each session of this monthly club will last for approximately 90 minutes. Precision knives, cutting mats and colorful paper will be provided, along with an array of templates created by Kimi herself depicting well-known Philadelphia landmarks (plus a few from world-renowned kirié master Shu Kubo).
No matter your level of ability, we hope you join us for this friendly, collaborative experience!
