"Highly Recommended" by the editors at Bon Appétit: "Ever since I’ve started keeping a Moku towel slung over my oven door next to my tomato sauce towels, I’ve realized a good dish towel can be every bit as wonderful as a sharp knife, a wooden spoon, or a heavy cutting board." Sasawashi Room Shoes
$ 67.00 USD
A pair of room shoes is an essential part of every Japanese home. This minimalist version is made from Sasawashi fabric, a pill-free fabric that effortlessly absorbs moisture and odors from the skin. The combination of antibacterial kumazasa fibers and breathable washi keeps these room shoes feeling fresh and feeling comfortable in any season.
Room Shoe Sizing Tips: Room shoes are designed for maximum comfort and are very forgiving when it comes to sizing, but it is important that your foot is not larger than the footbed. To ensure a proper fit, put on the type of socks you plan to wear with your room shoes and measure the length of your foot (in centimeters) while standing. Compare this measurement with the Japanese sizing in the chart below - which is also measured in centimeters - to determine the appropriate size. If you fall between sizes, round up, and if you have particularly wide feet, consider moving up one size. For more tips, check out our rikumo journal post on achieving a perfect fit.

About Sasawashi
Sasawashi was founded as a reaction to the wastefulness and ephemeral lifespan of the textile industry. Made from absorbent washi paper threads infused with antibacterial kumazasa plant fibers, this innovative fabric offers natural deodorizing properties that prevent mildew growth and fiber deterioration. From Japanese-style room shoes to personal scrub towels, every piece in the Sasawashi collection stays true to the brand's fundamental values: comfort, longevity, and simplicity.
Materials: Sasawashi fabric, polyester sole
Sizes: See above
Care: These room shoes feature a soft sole and are designed for indoor use only. Please do not wear them outdoors or on cement. Machine wash in a laundry bag with like colors. Do not bleach or tumble dry.
