Moku Linen Room Shoes
$ 78.00 USD
With its lightweight yet durable construction and wide variety of colors, the Moku Linen Towel quickly earned a place as a fan favorite. Seeing its popularity, Kontex reinvented Moku into a comfortable room shoe you’ll look forward to slipping into on lazy mornings or after a hard day’s work. The soft texture is perfect for wearing barefoot, and the addition of breezy linen fibers ensures things stay breathable. Each style also features a handy tab for hanging, making it easy to keep these daily staples within reach.
Room Shoe Sizing Tips: Room shoes are designed for maximum comfort and are very forgiving when it comes to sizing, but it is important that your foot is not larger than the footbed. To ensure a proper fit, put on the type of socks you plan to wear with your room shoes and measure the length of your foot (in centimeters) while standing. Compare this measurement with the Japanese sizing in the chart below - which is also measured in centimeters - to determine the appropriate size. If you fall between sizes, round up, and if you have particularly wide feet, consider moving up one size. For more tips, check out our rikumo journal post on achieving a perfect fit.

About Kontex
Gentle on the skin and kind to the environment, Kontex textiles are crafted in Imabari, Japan, using centuries-old techniques, as they have been since the company’s founding in 1934. Each product is made from fine, garment-quality thread gently woven on traditional low-speed looms to achieve unparalleled softness, then washed in snowmelt from the slopes of Mt. Ishizuchi. The end result is towels, blankets, and apparel that are incredibly soft and free from impurities - the perfect addition to any home.
Materials: 60% cotton, 40% linen
Sizing: See above
Care: These room shoes feature a soft sole and are designed for indoor use only. Please do not wear them outdoors or on cement. Machine wash with cold water and mild detergent. Avoid bleach or fabric softeners. Shape by hand and let sit in a shaded spot to air dry.

Sashiko Embroidered Place Mat
$ 30.00 USD
This placemat was created through a collaboration between artist Toshiyuki Fukuda and sashiko embroidery artisan Kenichi Ohazama. Fukuda and Ohazama utilized a wide range of techniques to translate abstract illustrations onto fabric with mathematical precision. The sturdy textile is made from 100% cotton woven into a strong quilted jacquard weave that easily washes away spills. Each Sashiko placemat is individually cut from a larger textile, making each pattern slightly different from the others.
About Sashiko Embroidery
Sashiko, which translates to “little stabs” in Japanese, is a hand-sewing technique that originated in ancient Japan. Sashiko stitches were traditionally used to decorate and repair homespun peasant clothes in times where resources were scarce. Using geometric patterns with common motifs like waves, mountains, bamboos, or overlapping diamonds, sashiko combined decoration with reparation, with its resulting beauty demanding to know: why just mend and make do when you can mend and make better?
Materials: 100% cotton
Dimensions: 17.72" L x 11.81 W
Care: Machine wash in cold water with similar colors and gentle detergent.
