This beautiful cushion cover is the result of a collaboration between artist Toshiyuki Fukuda and sashiko embroidery artisan Kenichi Ohazama. Using traditional sashiko embroidery with near-mathematical precision, each cover features geometric patterns that combine twenty-first century graphics with Japanese folk art motifs.. Each Sashiko Cushion Cover is individually cut from a larger 100% cotton textile, making each pattern slightly different from the others.
About Sashiko Embroidery
Sashiko, which translates to “little stabs” in Japanese, is a hand-sewing technique that originated in ancient Japan. Sashiko stitches were traditionally used to decorate and repair homespun peasant clothes in times where resources were scarce. Using geometric patterns with common motifs like waves, mountains, bamboos, or overlapping diamonds, sashiko combined decoration with reparation. Its spellbinding beauty asks: why just mend and make do when you can mend and make better?

This refreshing plant-based home fragrance is made from essential oil pressed from treasured Hinoki trees. Prized in Japan for its theraupetic properties, hinoki is a type of Japanese cypress that has historically been used in the construction of spiritual temples and baths. A natural insect repellant, the hinoki home aroma protects your home from microbes and bacteria, while its fresh forest scent uplifts the spirit and promotes deep relaxation. Made from a simple blend of Aloe Vera and Hinoki essential oil, this therapeutic aroma mist perfumes your home with the scent of the Japanese forest with no parabens or phthalates.
After many years of working as an artist, Eiko Miyazaki created te+te, a natural wellness collection that harnesses the natural properties of Japanese hinoki trees. Inspired by the concept of forest bathing- the Japanese practice of walking in the woods to invigorate the spirits- te+te aims to reconnect people with nature no matter where they live. Each product is made in small batches in Miyazaki's small studio in Westchester, using Japanese materials and apothecary techniques
