Each Keiznagama porcelain cup brings a pop of color and delightful hand-painted design to your table. Made with time-honored Arita sometsuke (hand-painted blue pigment on white porcelain) motifs, choose your favorite design and sip from a vessel that holds generations of history and skill.

Traditionally used as soba noodle choko dipping cups, these cups can be used to sip green tea or sake or to serve small desserts like yogurt, ice cream, or mousse.

"It’s often said that when you think of sobachoko, you think of Keizangama—renowned for producing over 100 designs created over generations. I grew up with several of these cups in my family home, each of us naturally claiming a favorite—mine, my sister’s, and my mom’s—during meals at our old house. Hand-painted in soft gosu blue on smooth white porcelain, no two cups are exactly alike. Timeless and beautifully practical, I use it as a sobachoko, tea cup, rice bowl, or even for ice cream—it’s an everyday piece I still reach for today. "  - Yuka Morihata

This is a handmade product. Variations in color and design are normal.

Keizangama

Set among the Arita valley, the Keizangama Kiln opened in 1957. Arita, located in Saga prefecture, was the first area of Japan to discover natural materials to create porcelain in the early 17th century, now known as Arita Ware.

Focusing on traditional sometsuke and somenishiki techniques, the Keizangama family strives to keep the more than 400-year-old technique alive through its studio, transferring each creator’s inner self and creativity to the beholder of their porcelain creations.
