Textured Porcelain Vase, Lace

$ 60.00 USD

– Sold Out

These remarkably thin vases and vessels are a modern representation of traditional Arita ware porcelain. To achieve their unique texture, skilled artisans imprint fabric (in this case lace) onto the exterior, giving each vessel a familiar feeling and softened aesthetic. Despite their thin walls and extremely light construction, these vessels are strong and can be handled with confidence.

About Arita Ware
The town of Arita in Saga Prefecture has a long and storied history of porcelain artistry. It is believed that the practice dates back to the early 16th century and that Japan's first white, hard-paste ceramics were made there. The spiritual traditions and local pride involved in the production of Arita ware have ensured its survival as an art form through the generations, and authentic pieces are still in high demand today.
