Our Kurume Kasuri Scarves are a modern example of the woven fabrics that were perfected by craftspeople in Fukuoka beginning in the late 19th century. Indigo dyed threads are woven (not printed) into broad-stroked and bleeding patterns that resemble a watercolor. These scarves are extremely durable and feature a heavier handfeel than most, making it a perfect transition piece for spring and fall.
About Kurume Kasuri
Kurume Kasuri is the Japanese form of “double ikat” textile wherein both the warp and weft threads are resist-dyed prior to weaving. Using an elaborate pattern, craftspeople use thread to weave double-sided designs directly into the finished piece.
Materials: 100% Cotton
Dimensions: Length: 72”, Width: 18”
Care: Machine wash cold with like colors. Hang dry. Wash minimally to preserve color.
