Bizen Hiiro Water Carafe

$ 240.00 USD

– Sold Out

There's an old Japanese saying: "Water does not spoil in Bizen ware water jugs." Maybe that's because each vessel is pure clay, free of any chemical additives; maybe it's because Bizen ware ceramics have more than 1,000 years of history informing their design and production. Either way, one thing is certain: Adding an elegant Bizen Hiiro Water Carafe to your table is sure to elevate any occasion.

Each carafe comes with a beautiful lid that doubles as drinkware. Additional Bizen Hitoe Cups sold separately. Available in two colors.

About Daikura
Though it's only been around since 2011, the Daikura brand is informed by the experience of Ogawa Shuzo, a craftsman with almost 50 years' practice working with Bizen ware. For more than a millenium, this type of vessel has been a favorite in Japan due to the popular belief that Bizen ceramics improve flavor, which is probably why Bizen drinkware graces the tables of many high-end restaurants in Japan. It is the goal of Daikura to honor the legacy of Bizen ware by providing ceramics that meet the lofty standards of this age-old art form.

Materials: Clay
Dimensions: 2.5" D x 10.7" H
Care: Gently hand wash and dry. Rinse with water before using. Sensitive to high heat; do not use with boiling water or place over an open flame. Because the surface of the clay is somewhat rough, we recommend using a mat under the cup and carafe.
