About Umelo Ihc
Founded by shoe designer Aki Honda and product designer Yuuko Tateshi, Umelo IHC was born from the wish to invent shoes that their own children would love to wear. Honda and Tateshi incorporate safe and natural materials, like tannin leather, into their designs to ensure that they are safe for the smallest of wearers. Every step of the process, from dying the leather to assembly and packaging, is done by hand at their small Kamakura studio, located about an hour outside of Tokyo by train.
