ABE Canvas Home Shoes - Wool-Lined
$ 66.00 USD
A trusty pair of slippers are an easy way to slip into relaxation without dragging the outside elements into your home. This pair, from one of Japan’s leading slipper makers, checks all of the boxes with its good looks, functionality, and comfort. Its shell is made from “No. 8” duck canvas, a material often found in sneakers thanks to its excellent strength, breathability, and ease of cleaning. Taking inspiration from the traditional slippers of Morocco, its 2-way “babouche” heel allows you to wear it both down, like a slipper, or up, like a shoe when you’re on the move. Underfoot, a soft lightly-padded suede-like sole offers subtle traction and protects floors from scuffs and scratches.
This version ups the comfort level by including a recycled wool liner that is sure to keep your feet toasty on the coldest nights. The non-lined version is available here.

About Sashiko Embroidery
Sashiko, which translates to “little stabs” in Japanese, is a hand-sewing technique that originated in ancient Japan. Sashiko stitches were traditionally used to decorate and repair homespun peasant clothes in times where resources were scarce. Using geometric patterns with common motifs like waves, mountains, bamboos, or overlapping diamonds, sashiko combined decoration with reparation. Its spellbinding beauty asks: why just mend and make do when you can mend and make better?
