About Tobe-Yaki Ceramics
A traditional Japanese art, Tobe-yaki ceramics - also called Tobe ware - is known for distinctive indigo patterns on pure white porcelain. Since the 1770s, these thick-walled works have been shaped by hand in the town of Tobe, which continues to support a flourishing ceramics industry based on locally sourced materials and the marriage of modern and traditional designs.
